Background
I came to woodworking with an 8 year technical background in design and manufacturing. Working as a mechanical designer by day, I find that many engineering skills transfer to the design and production of wood projects.
Types of Projects
I have experience making tables, desks, shelves, bars, and refurbishing furniture. I also do custom work and requests.
Where I Get My Wood
I usually shop at local Cleveland lumber companies, one of which, uses downed trees that the city of Cleveland has to cut down for one reason or another. Instead of being hauled away to become mulch, they are turned into large thick slabs by a local Sawyer. Many of the trees grow in strange urban contortions that gives them a unique wood grain and distinct features not usually found in nature.
My Philosophy
I enjoy designing products that highlight the natural beauty of the wood, letting it do most of the work for me. I take a minimalist approach in applying metal legs to the tables I make, usually using thin but durable designs to draw the eye to the wood. My goal is to create furniture, equal parts art and engineering, that looks great and is highly functional.
